HOLLYWOOD HILLS EAST
Location
Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, the areas of the Hollywood Hills are commonly divided by East and West. Both areas are made up of multiple neighborhoods within themselves. Hollywood Hills East, backs up to Studio City, Universal City, Burbank, and ends at a fire road in Griffith Park East and Franklin Avenue to the South.
Hollywood Hills East Today
Hollywood Hills East has grown to quite community with a mix of celebrity and entertainment industry occupied residences. Points of interest begin with Franklin Village, a great place to find a variety of restaurants and unique shops and a place to get to know your community. The Hollywood Bowl is home to some of the most epic concerts and performances by many well-known artists and performers. The Hollywood Reservoir/Lake Hollywood Park (you might remember this from the 1974 disaster movie “Earthquake”), is a nice place to visit for walking, hiking and bicycling. The neighborhood is also the home to the American Film Institute located at the intersection of Western and Los Feliz Blvd.
Bit of History
The Hollywood Hills is made up of multiple neighborhoods, but the historic community of Whitley Heights is one of the original residential neighborhoods of the Hollywood Hills. Whitley Heights was designed as a Mediterranean village, which is noticeable in many of the architectural styles of some of the Hollywood Hills’ first structures. The 1920’s brought a boom in property development and the beginning of a large “Hollywood” celebrity community.
