About Kim

Kimberly is extremely compassionate, caring and good hearted.  Kim's talents, devotion, faith and intelligence are all things that have pulled me towards her.  The experiences that we have shared thus far are amazing and I can't wait for our future together.  Wether its traveling, cooking dinner or just talking I immediately feel blessed to be sharing my time with someone so sincere and loving as Kim.  I can't wait to see what life has in store for us!

About Matthew

Matt is an extremely talented pastry chef with a contagious sense of humor. He caught my eye right from the beginning and has kept me laughing ever since. He's moved frequently for work and in the last 7 years has lived in: Pittsburgh, Orlando, Washington D.C, San Diego and now Chicago. It's amazing that we share such a sense of adventure and love getting to know new places. We went to Italy together earlier this year and I cannot wait to see where our lives will take us. Now that we're staying put in Chicago for awhile Matt is working for the Elysian Hotel Chicago and specializes in wedding cakes and everything delicious! It's his dream to have a bakery of his own one day. Delicious treats anyone?!

Our Love Story Began...

Kim's Perspective

We met for the first time about 3 years ago in November 2008. Matt was working as a pastry chef for the Grand Del Mar Resort (what's not to love about this?!)  and I was in the wonderful period of post college and ardently looking for full time work. While looking for a job, I was staying on a friend's couch who urged me to get out and meet a friend of hers. A few weeks later, she introduced me to this nice southern boy who turned out to be Matt's roommate. While Brandon and I didn't hit it off, Matt had me from the get go. It must be the adorable mid western side. :)We took things slow for awhile as I was still trying to find full time work and wasn't sure things would work out in San Diego. I remember having a conversation with my dad about how long I should be putting myself through that difficult time. I distinctly remember that we both agreed that if I wasn't employed by January 31st 2009 that I should head back to the bay area and rest. I knew I'd find a job but at the time, I was totally broke and miserable. Matt was my only bright spot during that time. God is such a miracle worker - January 29th I had an interview and was granted the position on the spot. January 31st I started my first full time job! It was such an exciting time!
God can do his work in mysterious ways, and four months later, Matt was offered a job in Chicago at the Elysian Hotel. I had a decision to make, and in so many ways, it was decided before I even started thinking about it. I stayed in San Diego to build financially and on 1.10.10 I headed out to Chicago. I have to tell you it must have been love - it was SO cold. It's the happiest move I ever made.

Matt's Perspective
Kim and I met by pure coincidence one evening while I was filling the wing-man role for my good friend Brandon.  The sparks didn't happen right away; it really started when Kim had an entire pint of Guiness poured onto her lap. That's when I really noticed the girl from southern cal. I immediately went into save the evening mode because I noticed that all she wanted to do was leave.  So I just tried to keep her talking and was hoping for a smile (which I got ;)  Next thing you know the evening wasn't a total loss and I went away with a good feeling about the mysterious Guiness girl.
A few dates later and I knew that Kim was a very special person whom I wanted to spend lots of time with.. I pursued Kim patiently because I knew she wanted to take things slow, which was a nice change of pace.  We spent a lot of time talking about life, personal beliefs and even some politics! It was a great surprise to know that a guy from the mid-west and a girl from southern cal could have so much in common.
From that time on we just continued to grow personally and together and I think that was the real key to building a successful relationship.  Don't get me wrong.. after I moved to Chicago we had our ups and downs, but it was worth it.  Then finally after what seemed like a lifetime, Kim moved to Chicago and I knew that she was the one!!!
